I have in mind a small adventure (levels 1 - 5) for 3 - 5 players , and I would like to test it PbP. The adventure takes place in the Forgotten Realms setting, specifically in the Moonshae Islands.
I allow any official material, including Unearthed Arcana. Please, if you want to join, post your character sheet (for the background: personal trait, ideal, bond, and flaw are enough). For the character creation, use the point buy system or the standard array.
I've always loved the idea to play in the Moonshae Isles and wanted to try out some of the UA material. So here is my Half Elf Stone Sorcerer: Lorreak Stronghelm.
Backstory: Lorreak was born from a union between a Human man and an Aquatic Elven woman. Unfortunately his mother could not keep him with her as her clan did not know of this coupling and would have killed the child if they knew. He spent his entire life with his father living in a small fishing village in the Moonshae Isles. One morning while working on the boats, one of the other boys was attacked by a group of Sahuagins, who tried to kidnap him. This was when Lorreak's power first emerged. He was able to fend the creatures and save his friend, but it was a harrowing experience for him that he still remembers to this day. The memory of the Sahuagins haunts him still.
Lorreak looks barely elven. His ears are mostly round, only someone looking closely would spot the points to his ears.
Edit: One change in background, if it is okay with you is I wanted to take Vehicles(Water) instead of Land because of his story and the game location.
Personality Traits: All of my life revolves around either training my body, or bettering my steel. I have a crafty proverb for every occasion
Ideals: Every day is a chance for me to train and craft, I must leave behind a well forged legacy
Bonds: One day I must return to my monastery and train the next generation
Flaws: I’m horribly jealous of anyone who can outshine my handiwork.
Background: Krisnen was given to the Iron Hall (a smithing guild that has a large main compound run similar to a commune) by his Father who was too poor (due to a variety of vices) to take care of him. Krisnen was very young at the time but his other siblings were older and went about their own lives without Krisnen in tow.
Krisnen dedicated his life to crafting, learning metal smithing, Jewel and Gem cutting, as well as Wood Carving. He was taught by an early mentor that the work of a craftsman is merely a reflection of the strength of his body and soul. Inspired, Krisnen began training his body, learning from anyone who passed through that had combat experience. He soon realized he was limited to what others were willing to teach him, so he petitioned for a sanctioned release from the Iron Hall to travel with the explicit promise that he would one day return and instruct the next generation as he was instructed.
Skills: Athletics (+5), History (+3), Persuasion (+4), Intimidation (+4), Gaming Set (Dragonchess), Common Language, Elven Language
Features:
Protection Fighting Style; Second Wind
Equipment: Chainmail + Shield, Flail, Light Crossbow + 20 Bolts, Explorer's Pack, Set of Fine Clothes, Signet Ring, A scroll of pedigree, Dagger, Crowbar, Grappling Hook, 10 Pitons, Hammer, 10 Iron Spikes, 2 Person Tent, Extra Waterskin, 3 flask of oil, pouch (14 gp)
SPELLS PREPARED: N/A
Short with a wiry frame, dark hair is close cropped, clean shaven, thin lips, and has a scar under left ear.
I'm interested. I've got a half-orc cleric that I've been itching to play. (full disclosure I made this character a while back to apply to another pbp that I was not selected for)
Personality Traits: He considers a tavern brawl a nice way to get to know a city. He frequently quotes (or misquotes) sacred texts and proverbs in a surprisingly wide variety of situations.
Ideals: He believes in Change. "We must help bring about the changes the gods are constantly working in the world." (chaotic)
Bonds: He has vowed that he will someday get revenge on the corrupt temple hierarchy who branded me a heretic.
Flaws: Once he picks a goal, he becomes obsessed with it to the detriment of everything else in his life.
Background: A religious syncretist who believes that all of the various gods associated with the tempest are essentially just lesser aspects of the true tempest, Enog Stormbringer has embraced the Tempest as both his deity and the core of his personality. He thrives on upheaval and the energy of chaotic situations; he rarely plans and is never more alive than in the midst of a good fight or argument. It was his syncretism, (and his penchant for a good fight) that got him thrown out of his temple, and set him on his path of adventure in the world sewing chaos and promoting change to make the world a better place.
1491 DR, 3rd Flamerule "It has been a tenday when you set sail from the city of Baldur's Gate. You left the Sword Coast to reach the Moonshae Isles for the calling of adventure..., among other things. The city's Dukes have received word from the High King of the Ffolk, Derid Kendrick, requesting mercenaries and adventurers. Rumours have it that a considerable tribe of strange orcs is rampaging along the isle of Alaron and the woods seems to be more dangerous than ever. In any case, your journey seemed to get complicated from the very beginnig. As soon as the land was in sight, your ship has been capsized by a tremendous storm. Fortunately, your party managed to reach the shore, with some efforts. Your goal is to reach to the city of Caer Callidyr to answer the call of High King Kendrick."
[Describe what you intend to do. Also, make a Constitution saving throw]
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
[Con Save: 23; Perception: 8]
As Lorreak washes up to the shore, he gets up and starts looking around for survivors of the crash. He is searching for the crew of the ship and any person he can find alive.
Enough Stormbringer laughs maniacally as the storm rages and the breakers crash over the ship. "THE GLORY OF THE TEMPEST IS UPON US MY FRIENDS!" the half-orc exults over the roar of the storm.
[con save (17)+2 = 19]
(are we gear-less, or can we make an athletics check to swim with our gear?)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Krisnen clasped tightly to his gear and began to take in long slow breaths to decrease his heart beat from the adrenaline of having to survive the capsized ship and subsequent swim to shore. His fingers made there way down to his belt where his trusted friend still hung, the feel of the leather bound hilt comforted him.
"Blasted ship was probably shaped by an amateur" he muttered under his breath as he curled into a sitting position on the shore, and turned his head about to check for anyone who might be in need of assistance.
CON Save:15 Perception:21
OOC: Can someone help me out here, I can't see where I have made the error that is preventing my roll function from being called with the tags. I am sure it's something silly, but I literally copied and pasted from the thread above haha. Thanks in advance!
OOC - From Subsistcyber - You seem to have found a bug. I fixed it for this instance.
The half-orc hauls himself up out of the sand where he had passed out. "Friends truly we are now blessed of The Tempest! Hahahuahua..." Stormbringer guffaws madly as he staggers around the beach. "Did you witness the might and glory of The Tempest?!"
Looks around at where we have found ourselves. Perception (8)+2 = 10
[Krisnen: you are able to see the Fairheight Mountains at north. As far as you know, the city of Caer Callidyr should be somewhere at the base of those mountains, close by the coast.]
"The only thing I witnessed was shoddy craftsmanship, no glory in that."
Krisnen stands and heads towards his companions. "Looks like we all made it through, luckier than those fellows" he says as he nods towards the dead crewman "We should put something together so we can get them to the nearest temple at least."
"It is good to see that some of you made it out alive. The sea can be treacherous, but such a violent storm is unheard of. We should make our way to civilisation and regroup. Grab what you can and get ready.", Lorreak calls out to the others.
"The party survived the shipwreck. After checking the well-being of each other, they decide to be on march northward. Four days travel waits for the adventures, and no one can say what perils lie around the corner."
OOG ( post comments in OOG if you want to decide the travelling pace, or things like that )
1491 DR, 4rd Flamerule "After approximately one day of travel, the party find the way impeded by a river. It is coming from a quite dense forest at West and ends its path eastward into the sea. The river is 30 feet wide, but there is a pass to get to the other bank. The sun is still shy this morning".
OOC: Is there a separate thread for Out of Game Chat, I took a quick glance and didn't see anything. Also should we be following some sort of formula for writing our posts. Text in color, thoughts in Italics, Rolls at the bottom, etc?

I too would like to state interest. I will get my sheet prepped shortly for submission. :)

Figured I'd go ahead and come back and edit this post with my character info.
