"Aye, we should be goin'." Valrish says, following Oorr.
OOC Abestos, would it be possible for me to do multiclassing?
(OOG yes of course, just have to follow the normal rules and the character sheets on this site have that functionality. When you level feel free to choose whatever you want)
So the group of you begin disengaging and heading toward the lake to skirt it South to the gate that leads to the expansive underdark. All of your companions join you, with the exception of Shuushar who remains to fight alongside the archpriest of the Sea Mother.
As you near the water you thread yourself through the fighting fish folk and see something unusual and disturbing. Something is churning up the water where the dead Kuo-toa have fallen, the waters are violent with whatever is thrashing about. You see several live Kuo-toa get pulled under from where they were standing on the waters edge.
huummm, is there any boat far away from the violent water that we could use to flee ? I agree to not approach this "sacrificial pool" !!
"I have a bad feeling about this..."
Scanning the docks, you see that the nearest boats appear to have kuo-toa fighting in or around them. The docks span the entire side of the city that touches the lake, however, so you may be able to find one further South, away from the heart of the battle. Then a thought occurs to several of you at the same time. Without Shuushar, who will drive the boat? (OOG You can still take a boat, but without someone proficient in water vehicles, it may be a more difficult journey.)
If you're going by foot you will need to exit the South Gate. There is no coast so to speak, traveling by boat will only take you towards the gate or into the dark lake caverns
You begin to head away from the fight, leaving the Kuo-Toa to finish their bloody civil war without your help.
Just as you near the edge of the battle, the waters rise even more at the edge of the lake. You hear the voice of the archpriest of the Deep Father, Bloppblippodd, cry out above the sounds of battle, "Leemooggoogoon!” as Ploopploopleen delivers a final, fatal, blow to the back of his daughter's skull with his scepter. Her body drops at the foot of the altar to the Deep Father.
Another sound rises above the burbling cries of the kuo-toa. The dark surface of the water farther out bubbles and begins to foam. A thick, oily tentacle bursts forth, followed by another. Then two monstrous heads break the surface, both resembling hideous, angry baboons with wickedly curved tusks. Both heads are attached to a single torso, and the monster’s red eyes burn with bloodlust and madness. The creature rising from the Darklake must stand thirty feet tall or more, with water cascading down its back and shoulders. Upon reaching its full height, the great demon throws back both its heads and roars!
)
Kuo-Toa everywhere begin screaming and pointing at the demon, crying out, "Leemoogoogoon!" Some begin running, but others are paralyzed in fear. The demon is far out in the darklake, but his tentacles reach towards the docks, smashing and splintering some boats and crushing Kuo-Toa that were furthest out. It slowly plods through the lake, toward the altar, tentacles thrashing about.
(OOG everyone please make a Charisma saving throw! Also for reference for your level 3 selves, Demogorgon)
Do I have advantage because I've dedicated my life to studying the likes of him and because my flaw is "Most people scream and run when they see a demon. I stop and take notes on its anatomy."? Never mind; I got a crit.

(OOG For future reference, I wouldn't give you advantage on the check since your knowledge would not make you any less susceptible to the Demogorgon's abilities, however you would know exactly what was happening and why. In this case, the appearance of the fiend is sending a wave of madness throughout the crowd. The mere presence of the grand demon instills chaos and confusion among those in his path. You would be able to recognize these symptoms as very similar to what happened to your party when you passed through the quartz cave, and that those of you who suffered some affliction at that time may potentially see even more hazardous side effects. Mechanically this means anyone who fails the save suffers a level of madness, and then I roll on the madness table to see what befalls you. If you suffered some form of madness before, then it will be worse if you fail again. So far, each of you has saved, so nothing happens, but I cannot say the same for your NPC friends, which I'll get to soon. I'll continue once Grimnir has rolled.)

(OOC so this campaign is about trying to escape the underdark + trying to survive the demons + trying to survive the madness. Did I miss anything?)

OOC: It looks like we're going to be a "show up, throw the status quo into disarray, and disappear" group. Fun.
