When the time for the 'trial' arrives the arena is already prepared.
The time... 2: Zagga is given the opportunity to rest while her opponent sits in a cell. The battle begins in early morning the crowds haven't grown to the size that was here the evening before. The sky is beginning to lighten, but the sun hasn't yet risen. Light is sufficient but shaded areas are only dimly lit. (I'm really rolling for lighting rather than time. 2 is dawn or dusk, failing light.)
A bound Halfling is brought out he looks a bit scrawny, but his eyes are sharp and confident. One of his guards is carrying his gear, some knives and a dueling sword as well as a small bow and a quiver of arrows. He appears to have leather armor under his clothes.
Zagga looks well rested and eager for contest.
"Grey Porridgepot, you are accused of thievery in my house. Fortunately for you, in my house, the law is a simple thing. Earn your freedom here if you can. You face an accomplished challenger here. Undefeated in this arena... Zagga the Shark!"
The small audience that has arrived early today cheers and whistles.
The arena has been shaped into The Pits, a fighting ring set into a pit in the earth. It has wooden palisades for cover around the sides. The walls are 10 feet high, but easy to climb.

In the prep room Grey checks his weapon and prepares to move out silently. Initiative: 7 Stealth: 23
Eldin moves to 11I and taking advantage of Josias' attention being on Klong, attempts to launch a surprise attack on the human fighter.
To hit: 11 Damage: 5 + Sneak attack: 1
Please note: I didn't add in inspiration effects because I don't know how that works. Sorry.
(So... I just figured out how inspiration works. If ignore this if this is too late. If not I'll roll another 1d6 to add to my to hit. What do I have to lose?

Klong goes for another stab at his laughing opponent. Not moving an inch from the previous spot (Yeah J9 is probably best if had to throw the weapon otherwise). Noticing that his ally has been hit, and the fact that he looks rather scrawny and not brawny like himself, Klong shouts out enchanted words of encouragement to his new found ally. "If you fall, i make you stand again little stabber boy"
(As Ragni says. You can choose to throw the inspiration dice ONE TIME after an attack roll, saving throw or ability check. So if you for instance rolled a 14 attack and knew you needed about 16 to hit you could decide to use the inspiration dice and add the result to the original roll. If your original attack roll was 14 and you rolled a 3 on the inspiration the result would be a 17 and you could hit your target if their AC was 16... Hope this helps. Maybe the most important thing about inspiration: You can roll it after you roll your d20, but BEFORE the dm says if it hits/succeeds or not)
Eldin steps over the low wall and stabs at the human, but his armor is too tough.
Klong slashes and Josias is on the edge. (16 hits AC 16.) Josias recovers from the attack and retalliates, but Klong endures the hit as though it were a less significant attacker.

The gates open. Grey acts first. He moves out to the edge of the pit at D8 where he is Ready to fire his bow at Zagga if he gets a clear shot.
Zagga rushes toward his position. He reacts as she approaches. Hitting AC 25 for 5 Sneak Attack damage 1
(If you'd like to add a bonus action to your turn upon being attacked or anything you may. You've dashed but you may use a bonus action or clarify your position)

On his turn Grey ducks back behind the palisades and takes a moment as a Cunning Action to Hide (Contested Stealth: 9, roll Perception or Investigation.)
He moves back and over to F9 where he releases another arrow: hitting AC 15 (10) for 4 (2) (numbers in parenthesis are advantage and Sneak Attack which don't apply if you can beat his contested stealth.)
Thistron attempts to strike again with poor but elevated footing. He strikes Eldin and the tiefling falls (advantage or disadvantage, those rolls hit.)
(This is coming up often and I don't want to keep you from using skills, so... If you want to use stealth, intimidation, acrobatics, etc. without using your action it will be contested, and if you fail it will have the reverse effect of what you've hoped. Acrobatics, off-balance, disadvantage. So taunt, stealth without hiding, use your historical knowledge of the opponents race... Whatever, it's all cool. I'm gonna edit the first post to reflect this.)

On first turn after being hit Zagga will use rage as bonus action.
Is perception gonna be my action? If not then 6. If yes then instead of using that as action I would move towards place I lost sight of him and ready my action to attack when I see him when he attacks. If that works: attack 19 and damage 10
"You sneaky little sh*#! You can hide, but Zagga will find you!"
(No a contested roll is not your action, it is, in this case, his bonus action. If he were still hidden you could Search to find him. Not necessary here.)
Zagga looses track of Grey briefly, but he reappears a moment later and hits her with another arrow.
(You can see him feel free to adjust or clarify your action. He is 25 feet away but up a 10 foot climb.)
(If you jump (Athletics or Acrobatics) to climb out DC 15 you can subtract 5 feet from the climb. If you can beat that with passive OK, if you fail you can climb out normal taking 20 feet of move, but the failed jump will cost an additional 5 feet of movement.)

After he shows himself, Zagga rushes and starts climbing. Athletics with advantage from rage 22. If she manages to get to him she will do greataxe attack 16 damage 9
if she fails she uses action to climb to be next to him

you can roll 1d6 and add it to your single d20 for attacks, ability checks or saving throw. Then its lost.
