There are some other things, too. I'm really stretching to remember 4E -- the rules changes never really "clicked" with me -- but I think the Dragonmarks were very much less about getting spell-like abilities and more about being better at skills and also having some ritual perks. I may be wrong about the details, but I do know that I didn't like them and railed against them on EN World. I remember it because Keith was active there, at the time, and actually (very, very nicely) put me in my place by pointing out that the 4E Dragonmarks actually looked, in some ways, more like his initial concept than the 3.5 versions did. At the time, I was left scratching my head about it. Since getting rid of all the 4E stuff I owned (it was all gone within 12 months), I kind of regret not taking a closer look at the Eberron stuff. That is especially true as I consider converting it for play in the Fate system.
IMO, 4e Eberron just all around does a better job of being what KB wanted than 3.5 did.
From Dragonmarks (and rituals in general) to alignments, Eberron came into its own with 4e.

I think, but I'm not sure, that he's using phonetic abbreviations. It took me a couple of tries, but I eventually read it in an Iron Maiden "I am Iron Man" or Dr. Who Dilek voice:
"I are Nuubatron.... I are Warforged.... Nuubatron is greater than All."

Welp. I guess I didn't need to be productive today anyway lol
I saw the notification on my phone and disciplined myself to not listen immediately, I knew that I had to drive out of town, yesterday, and would be able to just settle in and listen. If I'd tried to do what I wanted (play immediately), I would have split my attention and missed half. Manifest Zone is too good of a pod cast for that.
How good is it? I hate aberrations. Always have (since I started playing in 1983). Do not like Lovecraft in my D&D, at all. I really want all mention of the Far Realms purged from D&D canon.
After listening to yesterday's episode, I'd love to run a campaign with the Daelkyr as a recurring/main threat. Pure freaking genius.
Seriously, when I got into D&D, I always wanted to be a player in Eberron, but no one would run it. When I matured and 4e came out, I had a friend who DM'd a one-off session, and I was hooked. After that, I started to DM because, if no one else would do it, I would.
99% of my games take place in Eberron. Please Wizards... please throw me a bone and make your next adventure take place in one of your best settings.

Yeah. Eberron is such a rich, distinctive setting that I think it would benefit from some sort of "guided tour" adventure that really showcases the setting. That might actually be better for the setting than a traditional setting book -- especially if they started with a SCAG-style book; or started with a UA/web expansion for building PCs and ended with a SCAG-style book.
The thing about Eberron is that there are so many agencies and so much going on that trying to put it all into a single adventure would be a disaster. There's enough in Eberron that just introducing the various elements could easily support years of 1-2 long adventures per year without overlapping. It'll never get that level of love, though.
Even if it did, that would almost demand advancing the timeline, which runs counter to so much of the core value of the setting. I think it could work, but I'd want Keith Baker to be involved, just to put some boundaries on things ("No, you will not reveal the cause of the Mourning. Or the origin of the Dragonmarks. Or that other stuff.")

Exactly! It's hard to watch Realm after Realm book come out when we just need like one little piece of Eberron love. Or maybe offer some supplements on the DMs Guild. I don't mind converting, would just rather have it in my hands then in my mind... I've been thinking about this thread lately, we haven't posted too much in as of late and I really want this thread to stay alive so maybe Wizards will see there are dedicated fans who want/need Eberron. Also, if those interested or new to Eberron are interested in the communities take on the setting we can be here to answer all questions about it.

Exactly! I'll admit, when I DM games, I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content that could be fit into the campaign. I hold myself back for my own sanity (and so I don't mess up a good story for my players) but wow. So many people, places, things, factions! The fact you can have a story of mostly political intrigue, then a story that is mostly like dungeon crawling all in the same world... that blows my mind tbh.
I managed to run two Princes of the Apocalypse games parallel to each other inside of Eberron. I had the temples and other locals scattered across Khorvaire... To see how each group tackled it was truly cool. One group went after the air cultists all the way, the other group after the fire cultists all the way. It was pretty amazing.

I think that would be a great idea! A part of me wonders if it could be cool to collaborate on making our own homebrew additions... I am so sad. I had created backgrounds for the 12 Dragonmarked Houses... Like, I did GIMP to make it look like they could've been apart of an official book! Yet, I lost almost ALL of that progress. Here is one of my drafts for our favorite assassins and spies entertainers. As you can see, a few typos, but I was hoping to make tweaks here and there to make this background feel more canon. If something in there sounds confusing, it's because in a few of the campaigns I ran I had some NEW people manifest the Dragonmarks - completely unrelated to the houses. I wanted to see what kinda explosion would come from that upfront lol

I never want WotC to reveal why the Day of Mourning happened, that's for us as DM's to decide. (OR not decide.) The huge mystery of it is what makes continuing the war horrific and terrifying. And I wouldn't say never, though. Think about the setting, races, and classes. There is a lot that needs to be in place with this new system before Eberron can be made into reality for 5e. With the Mystic class going live in November, we're getting closer and closer to it becoming a reality.
The timeline being advanced wouldn't be such a bad thing...though, the core of the game is the aftermath of the Last War. But what about the aftermath of the aftermath? The world is going to go on and I wouldn't mind seeing it done right. Of course, with Keith Baker on board. I wouldn't mind a KAG (Khorvaire lol)...but there is such a diverse world to explore... where do you think an Adventure Path should start?
Here's my ideas:
-The Silver Flame is flickering... those who have a connection to the flame are finding it harder to hold onto their powers and some of them are just not working. (Of course, this would have to be a grand adventure!)
-Enemies of the Dragonmarked Houses... This is actually a game I am working on for our Friday night group. We have decided to take turns DM'ing (which is great for me because now I don't have to DM for years straight anymore...lol) and we probably won't get to it until next year sometime. (We're just finishing up Strahd and another player in our group wants to run The Dragon Queen games...) But, (I asked this in a Speaking Stone, if you want to check it out https://manifest.zone/enemies-of-the-dragonmarked-houses-wayne/ ) I have this theory that there is a bigger game at play when it comes to the Dragonmarked Houses. What if there was someone/agency that was completely against them and wants to destroy the Prophecy? The first steps would be to eliminate the Dragonmarked Houses, they are not only some of the most powerful people in the world but also this Age's last line of defense. (I mean, we still have Dragons and the balling ass Druids in the Reach...)
-From Five to Four... What if two of the five nations decide to form one nation? How would the rest of the world see such an alliance?

I'm trying to make time to look more into Eberron, since I'm discovering I was doing certain things kinda wrong-ish! (This is what happens when you ask graduate students working full-time to DM!) I have some campaign ideas, but I wonder if they are kind of silly. They would all be open world that could lead to bigger plots, thoughts like:
Party is a mercenary company that is struggling to find jobs in a market where House Deneith (and Tharashk, possibly) dominate the field. They end up going on missions so (dangerous? risky? horrible? with clients that don't have a good history of paying up?) just to keep their heads above water. Could be some good random quests leading up to a bigger mission overall.
Party is basically a suicide squad. PCs are criminals confined to Dreadhold, but are recruited by The Twelve to go on dangerous missions or do dirty work (such as roughing up competition). Eventually, a plot with House Tarkanan unfolds.
These are just vague ideas in my brain... not sure if they sound fun or not though.

I have an idea for an Eberron campaign, that is basically converting the plot of Gundam Wing to the Last War. However, I'm having problems with finding an equivalent for the Romefeller Foundation. The Aurum is quite close, but not as powerful.
I don't know much about Romefeller Foundation, but I think you could just power-up The Aurum some how. Everyone's Eberron is different, or even every campaign can be different. Whatever tells a good story. :)
