So I go onto D&D Beyond and the first thing I see is "Vecna themed perks for subscribers" and a picture of Vecna. This is getting me really hopeful that the new Spelljammer books will have Vecna in them. But then I thought that this might be some kind of crossover with Stranger Things 4? What do you people make of the new Vecna on D&D Beyond and how likely do you think it is we'll see him in 5e with Spelljammer
edit: i made this post before the Vecna Dossier dropped.
Stranger Things mentioned him, so Beyond is trying to ride the wave, I'm sure. There's a little Vecna statue you can buy soon, also. I don't think it has anything to do with traditional products like books.
That statue is pretty sick (the good kind of sick). Doesn't look very much like either Stranger Things or D&D Vecna, kind of a mix between the two. I'm surprised more people here aren't talking about Vecna. Do you think Vecna is going to appear in 5e any time soon?

Doubtful. Vecna's a god, and a fairly cautious one. Having him make an actual appearance instead of using a chain of intermediaries so long and convoluted that most of them don't even know they're working for him would be out of character.

"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

Vecna is Keyser Soze?!?!?!
That explains so much.

Earlier editions of D&D had stat blocks for gods, including Vecna, so I do not think it is out of the realm of possibility to see a Vecna stat block at some point in the future. Vecna is a pretty popular god - and I expect both Stranger Things and Legend of Vox Machina (even if not using him by name in the show) will only serve to increase his popularity and his ability to move product.

Earlier editions also had higher level caps for PCs as well as much more powerful magic items. And even then, confronting actual gods rather than just their avatars was ridiculously hard.

The higher level cap argument is a little silly, since you cannot really compare a 4e level 30 character as “ten levels higher” than a 5e level 20 character. Monsters are so-called to the edition they are printed in, and we have already seen the god Tiamat printed in 5e with a CR ten levels over the level cap. I do not think it is outside the realm of possibility that Vecna, a god whose power doesn’t come from physical might but manipulation and knowledge (and who is canonically weakened due to having been torn asunder), could be treated as a CR 30 threat. It’s also possible we would see Vecna in avatar form (the most recent printing of Tiamat was her avatar, not her personally).
That said, generally I agree with you - I’d rather see a book on Vecna that doesn’t have him in it, instead fleshing out who he is as a god, including bringing in some of the really neat lore on Good Vecna followers we saw in earlier editions (there’s still characters like Kas that could be a capstone monster for such a product). Still, given what we have already seen in other editions and what is already in 5e - and since it would be financially profitable to capitalise on Vecna’s inevitable rise in popularity, I am not sure one could rule out Vecna himself being printed.
It's about time D&D worked in tandem with some of the properties that reference it. I noticed the Legends of the Multiverse show has a new episode title relating to Vecna, too. I haven't watched it yet. But it's interesting to see them finally optimize some search terms lol.
Looks like Wizards is, in fact, willing to make character blocks for Gods - you can now claim Vecna the Archlich as official D&D Beyond content.
Is that his stats as a god or his stats as an archlich, though?
Looks like the latter.
”The accompanying stat block depicts Vecna in his archlich form prior to Kas’s betrayal.“
On paper, it is before his apotheosis - but I would be willing to bet the entire design team understood that, in actual play, this is going to be used as an end boss where you fight the god himself or his avatar. I think their choice of timing is less “let’s avoid having the players fight something that is technically a god (since we have already made multiple gods players can fight)” and more wanting to create a “whole” representation of Vecna, complete with hand and eye (though someone clearly forgot to tell the artist until halfway through drawing, since he has both eyes, but also a prosthetic hand).
so to me we have the dice set yet there's no campaign adventure for the rise of Vecna which bums me out I want that adventure so badly but idk if they ever do requests or if there's a way to say "hey please add this I'm sure DM masters and players would love this campaign" to the people who run this site but that's just my take on the subject

People like Vecna, he's cool, so naturally, D&D is trying to market and popularize him. If I owned Wizards, I'd probably do the same.
BoringBard's long and tedious posts somehow manage to enrapture audiences. How? Because he used Charm Person, the #1 bard spell!
He/him pronouns. Call me Bard. PROUD NERD!

Me: *reading Vecna stat block* “Hmm. Vecna doesn’t have Counterspell. Weird.”
Me: *gets to Dread Counterspell* “Ah.”
