Today's update includes a few small additions based on your feedback, organization for races in the character builder, and updates in preparation for the release of Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes.
Additions:
- Added additional information related to a weapon's properties in the character sheet weapon details.
- Added a new grouping concept to races in the builder.
Notes:
As new homebrew races are being created everyday and new races and subraces are being added to D&D, it became clear we needed a better system for organization for the race list inside of the character builder. You'll now see that races have been organized into groupings based on the parent race. For example, the Human and all it's variants will now live under a single Human group.
As you create homebrew races and/or subraces, you'll also be able to place them into a group as well, or not at all if you don't want your homebrew in any of the currently defined groups.
We've also surfaced more information related to weapon properties. For example, a Longsword with the Versatile property will now display as Versatile (1d10).
Is it intentional that we can't create our own race group for homebrew races? For example, I have Hengeyokai created which contains 8 sub-races. I would very much like to be able to nest them all under the core race.
That's much nicer. Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback! The idea behind this change was to give us some flexibility as to how we group the races. Right now we are grouping races by their parent race, but the system we built could technically allow for groupings outside of that parent-child relationship. As a result, we did make the decision to keep a defined list of groups for now.
several options are now missing after the update. Feats for the variant human, college of valor for bards. I was able to access these things before the update, but now they are just not there
This is great! I hope that they offer this for homebrew races that are not connected to existing ones. I've got a couple with a number of subraces (unpublished) that I'd love to clean up on the character builder. But this is a fantastic step forward.
Would this explain why "blunderbuss" and others are now base weapon options but aren't listed as actual weapons?
