This update includes several improvements to inventory management. Here's a quick summary of the changes included with this release:
- Brand new UI for choosing and adding starting equipment to your inventory.
- Adding an equipment pack to your inventory now adds the items contained within them.
- You can now customize weight for weapons - we will add the ability to do this for all other types of items in the next couple of weeks.
- You can add the "Silver" and/or "Adamantine" property to any weapon in your inventory under 'Customize.'
- Added support for magic weapons that have additional properties or damage types from their base weapon.
- Personal Possessions and Other Holdings now appear as a collapsible within the inventory section of the builder/sheet.
- You can now create homebrew magic items with their own weight, overriding it's base item weight when applicable.
Starting Equipment Revamp
Prior to this update, adding your character's starting equipment required manual entry of each item from the class or background summary. With this update, a new Starting Equipment interface has been added to the character sheet and builder that puts all of that in one place.
This UI will allow you to choose equipment based on what your starting class and background grants you. You can decide to add all, some, or none of the equipment offered to you.
Once a new character is created, the Starting Equipment collapsible will appear in the Equipment tab in the Builder, and in the inventory section in the Character Sheet:
Once you have selected your starting equipment or have explicitly skipped the Starting Equipment section within the interface, the collapsible disappears. You'll still be able to access Starting Equipment later to re-add items at any time by going to More > Starting Equipment in the Equipment section in the builder. This will apply to any existing characters as well. If your character was created prior to this update, Starting Equipment can be accessed this way:
A lot of backgrounds have items that are very obscure and specific. The nature of these items are often up to the discretion of you, depending on how it fits with your character's backstory. In those cases, when the item is added, it won't be added as an "item" in your inventory, but instead will be added to your Other Possessions section as plain text. From there, you can edit it as you see fit to further suit your character.
You can also elect to take gold instead of equipment. If so, the amount of gold you receive is based on the wealth of your starting class. You can either roll manually and select your dice roll, or click 'Randomize' to have the builder choose your starting gold for you.
Equipment Packs
When added to your inventory, either manually or through the new Starting Equipment UI, equipment packs, such as the Explorer's Pack, Scholar's Pack, etc., will now add the contents of the pack to your inventory instead of the pack itself. This does not affect any existing equipment packs in your character's inventory, as we didn't want to assume that you didn't already do this manually. If you'd like your existing equipment packs to expand out into its contents, simply remove the existing pack and add a new one.
Oh lordy lordy! Thanks for this!
No problem!
Wow! This is a really great improvement.
This is a wonderful update!!
I still hope that multiple inventories becomes a thing though. For example a bag of holding which then can display encumbrance correctly.
And also a shared inventory (or public inventory) where the entire party or selected players can stash stuff in. For example a cart, a locked chest.
B-e-a-utiful. Great news. Y'all are the bomb.
Awesome. That will save so much time.
Awesome sauce
