Sometimes it feels like things work out way too perfectly. Spelljammer for 5e is finally coming out. Previews for monster and a taste for the adventures have already dropped. But space is big. Space is vast. Space is not empty. Space is full of stars, nebulas, satellites... all sorts of things.
In other words: space it hard to draw really nice maps for.
It's a small detail in the grand scheme of things happening in my life, which in and of itself is only a small thing in the grand scheme of the world, which is a small thing in the grand scheme of the universe. But I thought it was too perfect a coincidence not to remark on.
I'll definitely be using some of the space telescope photos for Wildspace in my upcoming campaigns.
I have been following JWST since it was first announced, have family who did work for the program, and just generally have been a fan of the beautiful panoramas of space produced by Hubble and other programs for as long as I can remember. Seeing Webb the stunning and unrivalled images of Webb; the data they are already producing; the comparison in depth, clarity, and speed of data collection to other telescopes… seeing everything about Webb has just exceeded my every expectation.
The photos are absolutely incredible, awe-inspiring, eliciting of countless other emotions I could not put into words. I cannot think of a better source of inspiration for a Spelljammer campaign.

But then NASA dropped those photos taken from the James Webb Space Telescope. (Read about and see a few here)
