Welcome to Eldertree Sanctuary, a hidden refuge nestled within the heart of the ancient forest. In this introductory chapter, we invite you to explore the mysteries and wonders of this enchanting settlement, where ancient trees stand as silent sentinels and whispers of magic dance on the breeze.
Eldertree Sanctuary lore
According to legend, the sanctuary was founded centuries ago by a group of druids and mystics who sought to create a place of refuge and healing within the heart of the forest. They chose the site of the Eldertree, a towering colossus that was said to be the oldest and most powerful tree in the entire forest, as the location for their sanctuary.
Over the centuries, Eldertree Sanctuary has served as a haven for travelers, scholars, and seekers of wisdom from across the Simple Territories and beyond. Its tranquil groves and sacred glades have provided sanctuary to those in need, offering healing and solace to all who seek it. The Eldertree itself is believed to possess great magical power, its roots reaching deep into the earth and drawing upon the ancient energies of the land to sustain and protect the sanctuary.
Throughout its long history, Eldertree Sanctuary has weathered many challenges and faced numerous threats, from marauding monsters and invading armies to the encroachment of civilization and the spread of dark magic. Yet through it all, the sanctuary has remained steadfast, a bastion of light and hope in a world filled with darkness and despair.
Today, Eldertree Sanctuary stands as a beacon of hope and healing, a place where the weary and the wounded can find refuge and renewal. Its inhabitants are dedicated to preserving the ancient wisdom and traditions of the forest, and they work tirelessly to protect the land from the dangers that threaten it. Whether it be the machinations of The Tainted or the encroachment of civilization, the guardians of Eldertree Sanctuary stand ready to defend their home and safeguard the secrets of the ancient forest for generations to come.
The Simple Territories lore
Millennia ago, the land was inhabited by powerful empires and mighty kingdoms, each vying for dominance over the fertile plains and abundant resources. From the towering peaks of the Frostpeak Mountains to the shadowed depths of the ancient forests, the Simple Territories were home to a diverse array of races and cultures, each with its own traditions and beliefs.
However, the peace and prosperity of the ancient world were shattered by the emergence of The Tainted, a malevolent force that sought to consume and corrupt all that it touched. The Tainted unleashed hordes of twisted creatures upon the land, laying waste to everything in their path and plunging the Simple Territories into darkness and chaos. The ancient civilizations fought valiantly against this dark menace, but in the end, they were overwhelmed, their once-great cities reduced to ruins and their people scattered to the winds.
In the wake of this cataclysmic event, the survivors banded together to form new settlements and rebuild their shattered world. Over time, new civilizations rose from the ashes of the old, each carving out its own place in the ever-changing landscape of the Simple Territories. But the threat of The Tainted still looms large, lurking in the shadows and waiting to strike at any moment.
Today, the Simple Territories are a land of diverse landscapes and vibrant cultures, where heroes are forged and legends are born. From the bustling cities and remote outposts to the hidden enclaves and ancient ruins, there are countless opportunities for adventure and exploration for those brave enough to seek them out. Whether it be battling monsters, uncovering lost treasures, or unraveling the mysteries of the past, the Simple Territories offer endless possibilities for those with the courage to seize them.
Monster Hunting Lore
Faced with this dire situation, the inhabitants of the Simple Territories realized that they needed to take action to protect themselves and their communities from the rampaging monsters. Thus, the concept of monster hunting was born, as brave individuals banded together to form hunting parties and venture out into the wilderness to confront and slay the creatures that threatened their way of life.
Over time, these monster hunters became renowned for their courage and skill, earning the respect and admiration of their fellow inhabitants. They honed their abilities through years of experience and developed specialized techniques and tactics for combating the various monsters that roamed the land. Some formed guilds and organizations dedicated to the eradication of monsters, while others operated independently, roaming the countryside in search of their next quarry.
Today, monster hunting is a respected profession in the Simple Territories, with hunters and adventurers from all walks of life venturing out into the wilderness to brave the dangers that lurk beyond the safety of the settlements. Whether it be for fame, fortune, or simply the thrill of the hunt, monster hunters play a vital role in safeguarding the land and protecting its inhabitants from the ever-present threat of The Tainted and its minions.

*That's fine! You see, and I should've included this in the intro, there are monster advocates and people who wish to learn and control the tainted.*
*Hmmm... I have a character in mind, a sort of culinary monstrologist if you want to call them that. I've introduced him in multiple taverns, but he's usually a monster himself, at least in appearance. I can change that, obviously, but he isn't exactly human either way. Perhaps he's partially Tainted due to his diet.*
*Also, does it have to be an official sourcebook that I'm supposed to mention? Cause my favorite would probably be either Steinhardt's Guide to the Eldritch Hunt or Heliana's Guide to Monster Hunting. If not, Tasha's Cauldron of everything.*

A large, spider-like vehicle approaches the Eldertree Sanctuary, weaving delicately between trees as a light, sweet-smelling smoke pours out the exhaust. Not a smog that chokes, but something... new. Its headlights shine through the foliage, swiveling to allow examination of the area. Piloting it is a fluffy, orange, ogre-dragon-wolf of some kind. Nothing like any known creature. It wears a dark knitted waistcoat, tie, and white everything else. The back of the vehicle is packed with cargo of various kinds. The vehicle stops and the lights turn off as the driver admires the fireworks.

The Eldertree Sanctuary stood as a serene haven, dedicated to nurturing and aiding rather than imposing and devastating. The ancient tree at its center, with roots that reached deep into the earth and branches that stretched high into the sky, was a magnificent spectacle amidst the surrounding starkness.
For countless years, unseen eyes had observed this sacred place, but now a mysterious presence was revealing itself. Emerging from the weathered bark of the tree, a woman materialized. Her complexion was as fair as freshly fallen snow, and her hair cascaded like the darkest of raven feathers. Her eyes, a profound shade of green speckled with crimson, held a hint of unearthly allure. Delicate, elven ears peeked out from beneath her flowing locks, adding to her otherworldly beauty.
She was clothed in a flowing white gown that enshrouded her slender figure, and a belt crafted from intertwining silver branches encircled her delicate waist. Her bare feet made contact with the ground with a gentle grace, as she sported a crown of green cat's claw briars above her brow.
Surveying her surroundings, her eyes sparkled with a mischievous glint, adding to the air of enigma that surrounded her.

There is a faint buzzing sound in the air that grows louder with the arrival of a giant firefly outside the Sanctuary- alongside its rider. The firefly lands a short distance from the entrance, and its passenger dismounts from the creature and pets its head, whispering a command for it to wait for their return.
The passenger in question appears to be... some variety of humanoid, clad in leather armor with the Mistwalkers' emblem emblazoned on their shoulder. She has pale-grey skin, yellow eyes, and short black hair. She removes the pair of simple leather goggles from her eyes as she walks towards the entrance, taking in the sights.

The spidercar makes its way into the sanctuary, and the strange, oversized driver begins to unload the vehicles, his large muscles and great weight allowing him to move around incredible amounts of cargo at a time. Most of said cargo is jars filled with various colorful powders and plant parts such as petals, seeds, and leaves. They all have labels with foreign words on them, and a logo printed on the expensive parchment.

As you walk toward the entrance a couple soldiers ontop of a large wall that surrounds the Settlement call you out, one of them already has a Crossbow pointed at you. Judging by their voice it's easy to tell they're in their late teens; ``Excuse me! Uh- What we can tell is that your part of the Mistwalkers so we aren't worried but uh- Your not gonna isck your Giant Firefly on us right?``

Multiple people crowd around the car, most quite interested in the smell and cargo it has. After a while some guards go by lead by Soren Flameblade, the current captain of one of the Settlements Monster Hunters. He has firy orange hair and seems to have his weapon, a large lance, already drawn his voice ringing out due to it's rather gravely pitch; ``Now Now All, Step away from the Newcomer!`` he speaks to one of his guards in whispers, now directing his voice to the newcomer; ``Hello There! Most of said cargo is jars filled with various colorful powders and plant parts such as petals, seeds, and leaves. They all have labels with foreign words on them, and a logo printed on the expensive parchment.
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
May each word that I speak be backed by each of my teeth.
We were wondering, uh- Who or What exactly are you!``
