For the past two years I've been playing with an Amazing DM who creates all of her own assets for Roll20... I didn't even realize at first. I thought she was using officially licensed content, not realizing until she mentioned it that she was creating it all herself. If you want to get an idea of the quality of her work, you can see our stream archive of our streaming party, Crits for Breakfast, at twitch.tv/afterdisbooty, where the only content in the game that isn't created by her are the character icons drawn by the players who are also artists. She's finally selling her content to the public! If you really want to elevate your next Roll20 game, you owe it to yourself to check out Hazel's Emporium.
Right now she has two sets available... a 24-icon human token set, which is perfect for NPCs of a variety of ages, sexes, and skin tones. She also has assets for the underserved snowy winter settings, including 25 complete battle maps and decor items that can be used to custom-create your own winter scenes. I've used her assets for my own games (also streamed through Crits for Breakfast at twitch.tv/afterdisbooty), and honestly the only downside is that it's so quick and easy to build battle maps that I end up creating maps far too large for the encounters I end up running.
There's more to come, since I know for sure that she's got hundreds of assets still to be organized and marketed.
I highly recommend her NPC set, which avoids a lot of the traps of everyone being young, or white, etc. There's a good token there for most needs, and it was an instant snap buy for me. (Finding good art for older female NPCs is always way too hard!)
BTW, Hazel's Emporium has new products available! It's a 60-piece collection of food for taverns and fine dining scenes. I honestly get hungry just looking at these sometimes. It really makes meal scenes feel more immersive to have characters gathered around a table with actual food on it.
A new pack went live yesterday! The Map Building Essentials pack! This pack is filled with over 100 different assets perfect for building outdoor settings and full villages, including 9 premade buildings, and wall/floor assets to build your own buildings of any size, with more than 50 items to help you fill them with things like beds, hearths, and other furniture. There's also a versatile collection of icons to make seamless trails... there are three different sets, one for making well tiled roads, another for making loose cobblestone, and finally a simple gravel pathway perfect for outdoor settings.
Two more sets have just gone live! These are some great map building packs for filling out your towns.
First is her Market Stall set. These are great for setting up a shopping center for the characters to explore, and includes not only stalls, but crates, barrels, and other decorative items to help bring your market scenes to life. They work great both as outdoor stalls, but also work to set up counters in indoor scenes.
Secondly, she's released a massive Quaint Western Decor set. This is a 175 piece set, which includes desert plants and map building essentials, along with everything needed to fill in a western town. This set is perfect for desert settings, and if you want to get a little old west flavor in your campaign setting. There's more than enough in this set to build up an entire campaign. One of my favorite features in this set are her Wallpapers, which are designed to rest on top of the otherwise simple wooden walls the set comes with, allowing you to completely customize individual rooms in larger buildings, or just to give a pop of color to help make smaller homes more distinct and individual.
Hazel's back with more assets to complete your game!
First there's a 24-piece Elven NPC pack. It's got great variety in skin tones and ethnicities, including several Drow tokens to cover all the elven options. Honestly, some of these are unique enough to work as a PC icon, but still work great at filling out the world.
The big new set, though, is her 197 piece Japanese Building Pack! This is absolutely perfect for those struggling to play a game with an Eastern flavor, especially since so many assets are built for Western European settings. This set has 7 premade buildings, and all the assets needed to build your own buildings. Not only that, it comes with outdoor assets as well, including bamboo and cherry blossom trees. There's also a ton of decorative assets to fill out buildings, such as sandals to be set by the front doors, fans both for resting on table or to be set hanging n walls. Even hanging paintings and shinto shrines, but for me my favorite asset is probably Hazel's specialty: The Food. There's tea sets, varieties of sushi, rice, noodles, and, honestly, mouth watering Ramen. Trust me when I say that immersion jumps to a new level when the players are sitting at tables covered with real, delicious-looking food instead of everyone gathering around empty squares meant to represent tables.
I realize that I should have updated this sooner! Hazel has a few more packs available, with plenty of unique assets for everyone to enjoy!
First there's her Halloween Pack. We're past October now, but this is still a great pack full of essentials you can use to build spooky or abandoned settings. The pack includes 90 items, with modular pieces for building your own haunted mansion to fill with dusty furniture, ominous knives, and plenty of skeletons, cobwebs, and witch's cauldrons. The set also includes outdoor decor, such as modular sets of autumn leaves and everything you need to build your own graveyard, including tombstones and even an open grave. Plus for Halloween or any other playful event, there are included pumpkins, jack-o-lanters, and even piles of candy! We played a Halloween one-shot using these assets and it made for a great, fun spooky night in a haunted mansion.
And next there's her Orc Token Set. Like Hazel's other race token set, this includes both male and female tokens, along with a variety of ages so you can finally have the wizened orcish elder actually have their own unique token. This set also includes the popular green-skinned orcs, but also the technically-more-accurate grey skinned orcs as well. Whether you need icons for generic hordes of orcs, or if you want to make sure each individual orc is their own character, this set has you covered.
And finally I wanted to remind everyone about her Winter Battle Maps set. This set includes 25 unique, pre-made battle maps in a variety of winter environments... but also includes assets for building your own unique battle maps, or customizing the pre-made maps with custom environments for any encounter. Combined with Hazel's Map Building Essentials, you could create almost any battle maps you could need for an adventure through winter or arctic environments.
Hazel has a new set: 1001 Nights, an Arabian themed asset pack. This set includes 3 premade buildings, but over 100 additional items to help build your own Arabian maps, including modular pieces for building your own building, and a ton of decorations and furniture. There are lavish thrones, a variety of beds, tables, carpets, and even things like lamps, and hookahs.
I know there's not much time left this year, but Roll20 finally approved her Yuletide Decoration Pack!
This pack mostly focuses on indoor decorations and assets for building cozy wood cabins, but also has several outdoor assets, including snow-covered trees and snowmen of many varieties. But it's also full of gifts, furniture, Christmas trees, Hazel's signature foods, and uniquely, she also includes assets for Hannukah and Kwanzaa, since they're criminally under-represented holidays compared to Christmas. For just $5.99 you get 69 unique Holiday-themed assets.
Ever want something a little more... Cottagesque? Make that little fairy garden or peasants cottage feel more... enchanting? Well, here's something to start with!
This set Includes: ✿ 134 Items ✿ Stone Cottage Walls and Windows - to build your own getaway~! ✿ Assorted Flowers and Mushrooms ✿ Rose pedal seamless paths ✿ Dark stone pathways and 2X2 Wooden Floors ✿ Assorted Furniture and Stairs ✿ Logs and Boulders ✿ BONUS: 3 animated Insect groups! Bees, Ladybugs, and Butterflies!
