I was taking a look at the Armorer subclass for the Artificer, and I saw that it said that Thunder Gauntlets deal 1d8 thunder damage on a hit, and lightning launcher deals 1d6. It did not specify a modifier, so I assumed that since Thunder Gauntlets count as simple melee weapon, that you can add your Strength modifier to the damage, and you add your Dexterity modifier to the Lightning Launcher. Can someone please correct me if I am wrong?

Like any other weapon attack, you add the ability modifier from the attack roll to the damage roll. And because of how the feature is worded, you can use your Intelligence modifier in place of Strength (Thunder Gauntlets) or Dexterity (Lightning Launcher).
