the artificer has always been an odd class to me. i hoped to clear it up by playing one and am currently running a goblin armorer. i was wondering if i can give my arcane armor to someone else or can only i use it?
I'm not sure on this, but reading up on it I'm coming to the conclusion that you could doff the armor and another person can don it, but only you get all those sweet benefits. But I'm not sure on that.

This is an involved question and comes down in part to DM interpretation:
It is cold hard RAW that only two things stop your arcane armor from being arcane armor: you putting on any other armor, or you dying. There is no question you can take the Arcane Armor off and give it to a friend. That friend can wear it. Do they get any benefit from it? Well...
Arcane Armor is a subclass feature you have that your friend does not. That means these only apply while you wear the Arcane Armor: waived Str requirement, using it as a focus, can't be removed without consent, doff or don as an action.
Armor Model is also a subclass feature, but what the feature mostly does is modify the armor, not you. The only thing it does to you is let you use INT instead of STR or DEX with the armor's weaponry, so that's something no-one else gets.
The other features of the armor - the gauntlets and field, or the gun, speed, and field - are modifications to the armor itself, and the way they're written is the way equipment is always written, where "you" means the generic wearer. I certainly interpret the RAW to mean these work for any wearer. However, your DM might insist that because it's a subclass feature, the "you" in it is still only actually you, like in the Arcane Armor ability. So check with your DM on that.
I'm not sure on this, but reading up on it I'm coming to the conclusion that you could doff the armor and another person can don it, but only you get all those sweet benefits. But I'm not sure on that.
Yeah, this, pretty much. Or, at most, another Artificer Armorer could get the associated benefits but not just anyone.
