Question - Arcane firearm lets you add 1d8 damage to one of the damage rolls any artificer's spell cast through it.
Has it been determined if this applies to Ashardalon's Stride? This spell is cast on yourself, but then delivers 1d6 fire damage to anyone within 5 feet of you. Would every target get the 1d8 bonus damage akin to an area effect spell like Fireball? or would only one affected creature get the 1d8 damage roll, like when applied to scorching ray (only one of the three attacks get the 1d8)? Or does the arcane firearm bonus not apply because the spell is cast on yourself?
If I'm reading it correctly... it applies the extra damage a single time against a single target for the entire duration of the spell. The wording of Arcane Firearm is such that the extra damage only applies to one damage roll per spell, not per turn or instance. So spells that deal damage over time through multiple turns don't deal additional damage round after round, since you still only cast One spell and only One roll of damage gets the boost from Arcane Firearm.
The fact that the target is self isn't a factor... the only determining factor is if you used your Arcane Firearm as the spellcasting focus for the spell and if the spell involves a damage roll of any kind.
