So I'm playing a Fire Genasi Artificer in my home campaign and I was thinking about a change that could be made to the Mending spell when used to repair the Eldritch Cannon or Construct Servants, that change being that casting the spell should be a bonus action rather than an action. Anyone agree?
It allows you to heal constructs like my autognome character, your Cannon/Servant, or even a spelljammer ship with a cantrip...which is already powerful. It takes a minute makes sense because it is not designed for combat. Altering the cast time or the action makes it severely unbalanced.
You're right, I forgot that it isn't meant to be used for combat. I think what didn't help is that I worded it poorly. What I meant was "It should be a bonus action when used to repair Eldritch Cannon or Construct Servants". However, I acknowledge the pure rage it would cause DMs if it were JUST a BA. I am aware of my stupidity, and thank you for calling me out.
