If I go alchemist artificer could I possibly manufacture painkillers and then capture seagulls to then feed the painkillers too and throw them at the enemy's and if so what damage type would it be.
This all sounds like an "ask your DM" situation, because I'm pretty sure nothing in the rules covers it. 😝
To my knowledge there's no concept of painkillers in D&D, but it's reasonable to assume that something would exist in the D&D universe (as we've known about medicinal plants for numbing pain for centuries if not longer), and so that would be something that would be reasonable for an Alchemist (or anyone with alchemist's supplies) to make a more concentrated form of.
Feeding those to a seagul is going to be the tricky part; you're going to need to Grapple them somehow, as painkillers alone won't incapacitate a seagull unless you can trick them into eating enough of them (which for anyone with a pet can attest is very difficult to do, as while pets love to eat things you don't want them to, they're also experts at detecting medicines). To be honest I'm not clear on what the painkillers are really for here though; if you just want to stun a seagul there's probably an easier way, and it not feeling pain isn't going to be any particular advantage?
Once you've got the seagul it's basically an improvised weapon, so d4 or d6 bludgeoning damage, or maybe piercing if you can hit beak-first?
So ehm… yeah, ask your DM, but the rules give us the tools to make weird ideas mostly work. 😉
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
