I really enjoy my Battlesmith. Picked up find familiar and create homunculus so I am surrounded by my constructs which I am constantly using for spying, assistance in combat, as watchdogs, etc. There is really no limit for the imagination.
I like being flexible with my playstyles and builds. Alchemist and artillerist do that for me better than the other two. The battle Smith and armorer are good but that just makes me prefer them for multi-classing

I took the “pot of awakening” infusion (Xanathars) and I have a homunculus and steel defender (battle smith is my favorite)
yes I am making an army, how did you get find familiar btw? (for army making purposes)
Hollow unbreakable arrows are the most OP common magic item, and my current method of coming up with insane combat shenanigans.
if you make a steel pipe with one end closed and a nozzle on the other, you can enlarge it, fill with any liquid, and then drop concentration, creating a high pressure squirt gun. (or a pipe bomb, depending if it holds)
This poll is already running my dudes (and my alchemist is hated in both, sigh, hahaha)

I took ritual caster wizard. Dr van Wulf is in my sig if you'd like to look. He's not very optimized by any stretch but I sure do have fun playing him.

Looks optimised enough for me. What are those Portrait border and background images from?! They're awesome!

Alchemist all the way. Having played one to level 11, It's much better than people think. As long as you are happy to improve your allies instead of kicking ass yourself, it's great mechanically and thematically.
I love support, and alchemist with alchemical savant is just killer, add those potions from experimental elixir in as well and exhaust all lvl 1 spell slots for a possible 8 “I believe” 2D4 +10 healing potions“20 INT and alchemical savant” PLUS 2D6 + 5 “20 INT” temporary HP is straight busted.
And getting a use of greater restoration or heal for free once a long rest at lvl 15 has our main healer like.. O_o *da fux?!* 😙

"I know Im still the (10.8%) minority, but I absolutely adore the Alchemist. Currently lvl18 and without beating my own drum or tooting my own horn, my party would have died and/or failed a dozen times over by this point! Great utility, great healing, great set of options for actions. Im not hung up on the usual 'but I wanna do damage!" I hear about the alchemist, I'm not precious about my spell slots and Im very liberal with my infusions (I do keep one or two for myself, admittedly). My plague doctor is the best character Ive ever played and that may be because when I actually do get to take a break from ForeverDMing and play for a change, I prefer 100% support and utility. Previously it was backline bards, control sorcerers or prep time tomelocks, but I have found the alchemist to suit all those niches in one class, at least for the way I like to play.
This comment is based 100% on personal experience and there is no fact involved. The fun of a sub/class comes completely from what you make of it, RP and strategy wise. I mean, while I've never come across one in the wild, I'm sure there's people who loved their Beastmaster Ranger too. Anyway, thats my 2c in defence of those who'll come at me with stats, facts and minmax chats. haha Carry on, as you were. :)"
If you're interested, below in my signature is my artificer that I've been playing for the las five years or so, taken him from lvl1 through to lvl18! I've had him play through the first Unearthed Arcana of Alchemist when the only artificer subclasses were Alchemist (with the alchemists' bag of tricks being their centrepiece) or Gunsmith (with their Thundermonger canon being the centrepiece), through the Version 2 UA, on into the Eberron release and finally now with the Tasha's edition of the class. While the V1 UA was rubbish, I still had fun with it and because of that experience, I absolutely love the Alchemist as it is now.

There are several people who love phb beastmaster (in this forum) and can show you mathematicaly get decent value out of it. There's even potential for insane power levels if you're taking care to optimize your builds.
Alchemist like phb isn't really about power its about feel or preferred playstyles. They optimize differently but aren't worse by much if at all.

Alchemist is my favorite, not necessarily the best. I think artillerist is the best.
I really enjoy my Battlesmith. Picked up find familiar and create homunculus so I am surrounded by my constructs which I am constantly using for spying, assistance in combat, as watchdogs, etc. There is really no limit for the imagination.
Current Characters I am playing: Dr Konstantin van Wulf | Taegen Willowrun | Mad Magnar
Check out my homebrew: Items | Monsters | Spells | Subclasses | Feats
Battle Smith is the only one I like.
I like being flexible with my playstyles and builds. Alchemist and artillerist do that for me better than the other two. The battle Smith and armorer are good but that just makes me prefer them for multi-classing

The portait border is from Tasha's and the background is Icewind Dale. I spend entirely too much money on DNDBeyond : )

Alchemist allows you to roleplay as a witch, but I like artillerist because gun wands are cool.
