I went to make an artificer with the 2015 rules on DND beyond. I quickly found out that I can't make a new artificer as the class doesn't exist as an option anymore.
What if I have expanded rules on and own the books and it still isn’t there?
While multiple physical books can contain the same material, that doesn't mean purchasing a digital book grants you access to it. There's a difference between the compendium content and what's usable on your character sheet. The SCAG subclasses reprinted in Xanathar's and Tasha's (Bladesinging, Mastermind, Swashbuckler, and Way of the Sun Soul) previously needed to be purchased through SCAG to count as an entitlement. I don't know if that's still the case, but I wouldn't be surprised.
Hi, little late to the convo but I’m in the same boat. I own the digital version of Tasha and I have expanded rules on. Any reason why Artificer still isn’t showing up?
UPDATE: I toggled expanded rules off and on and it appeared. I have no clue why it didn't appear the first time when I had it set to on. Weird! But problem solved!
Hey! I’ve been trying to find artificer to build a character but in 2026 there is no class??? I’ve expanded and followed the advice here, is this something I have to purchase?

I'm very sad, as artificer was my favorite class.
Thanks for the years WoTC.
Artificer is neither in the new 2024 rules nor in the 2014 legacy rules seeing as it was not in the 2014 PHB.
Artificer appears under Expanded Rules.
To create an Artificer you need to have Expanded Rules enabled when creating a character.
This should display the Artificer as an option on the page where you choose a class

It's not there for me either with Tasha's, entitlements synced and expanded rules clicked

If you only have the books with artificer from content sharing, is there not a way to build an artificer in D&D Beyond anymore?
Gotcha! Thanks
I have the same problem i think, even if i allow expanded rules theres nothing about expanded rules in the classes options

I unfortunately ended up buying a book
No no sorry I was half asleep writing that, I bought the book and it showed up. Sorry for not being more clear lol
