I know that to get the Homunculus Servant statblock with all the items correct that I have to homebrew it - it even says so right in the statblock! But, I'm confused about the Magic Bond feature: (this text is from Forge of the Artificer book in Roll20)
Magic Bond. Add the spell's level to any ability check or saving throw the homunculus makes.
Edits Required. This stat block requires user edits for full functionality. Please use this list to ensure all edits are made appropriately for full effect. 'Spell level' refers to the level of the spell slot used to cast the Homunculus Servant spell. Hit Points = 5 + (5 times the spell level) Hit Dice = a number of d4s equal to the spell level Proficiency Bonus = the spellcaster's total proficiency bonus All ability checks and saving throw modifiers = Add the Proficiency Bonus Force Strike attack modifier = the spellcaster's spell attack modifier Force Strike damage = 1d6 + spell level
So as an example, DEX is 15, giving an initial modifier of +2.
Magic Bond says add the spell's level, so +2
So a dex check would be at +4, Stealth at +4, and Dex saving throws at +4?
But then what's this about the proficiency bonus in the instructions? As I read it, I don't think the 2025 Homunculus uses my PB at all - just the spell level and my spell attack modifier.
I guess I'm confused that the instructions to edit the stat block (in the Forge of the Artificer book in Roll20) seem a little different from the main stat block instructions, if that makes sense.
Also: since it attacks with my spell attack modifier, does that mean it also gets the same bonus I do if for example I'm holding a Wand of the War Mage? Or is it my native one, PB + INT?
So I have a clarification I need help with. There are 0 notes on what happens when the Homunculus Servant drops to 0 hit points. There's nothing in the rules glossary specifically on summons. Does it vanish entirely? Does it leave a body behind? I know in the released version it says that the gem used is not consumed but we get no other clarifications on this version of creating a Homunculus. This seems like a pretty drastic oversight on their part in all honesty.
I still like the way the 2014 version had it leave its gem behind so that's how I usually play it - the gem is embedded and when it dies it returns to me or I go pick it up.

When you have your Homunculus Servant carrying or attuned to items, how are you recording that on a dndb character sheet?
