so I am planning on retiring my fighter character someday for an artillerist artificer, and been having a thought about how to use his level 8 increase. Considering how the main form of attack I plan for him to have is an arcane firearm fire bolt, would it be worth it to take the elemental adept feat instead of getting the stats to twenty? Everything seems to have fire resistance, and negating that seems like it would be a lot more useful than an extra point across everything...
no talks of variant humans either. I want to play a high elf artificer, not a human.
Depends on your stats as you reach that level. Having 20int is almost paramount because of everything it fuels, the other stats aren't as important and more of an argument can be made between feat or ASI.
I havn't actually rolled stats, but with how unlucky I can be I do not doubt not being able to get a 17 or so for my stats. My fighter is level 9 and I know full well how much it sucks not having a 20 in his strength stat, but I am still nervous about the fire damage not being enough considering how most of our pre-prepared spells are all fire based for the artillerist...

how much use is flash of genius?
True. I think I would have to see my stat rolls before I really have to choose, but for now it’s something to consider. Thanks!
