You could simply hold your action until later in the turn then act and then have the bonus action (which you should still be getting). Since you get the bonus action each round there really shouldn’t be any problem holding it until later in the round, but check with your DM. The real problem is that a held action functions almost like a reaction which could conceivably allow a third action by you in the round - especially if you go first/early. That would give you 1) your regular action (attack/spell), 2) the held bonus action canon fire and 3) a reaction of some sort. You should be getting all three with some regularity, the first 2 every round on your turn, the last when opponents (or a teammate) does something to activate the reaction.

If I am an artillerist, is there a way to hold an action on my force cannon (that is trundling along near me) to shoot?
