Hello everybody,. I have a doubt. in the book it says that it is possible to create a cannon with its action and further on that with the bonus action you can activate the cannon and with the same move it.

As I understand it, the word "activate" referred to shooting with the cannon. But my master thinks that this action would only be to turn him on and not to attack.  So I would like your help to try to solve this. Thanks

I feel like this isn't quite using the right wording, so it can be hard to speak directly on what to expect, but I'll try to speak on it based on what I can understand. Anyway...

For the Artillerist subclass, the Eldritch Cannon class feature requires a full Action to activate. That action creates the Eldritch Cannon as a token on the game board, but otherwise doesn't do anything. Once an Eldritch Cannon is created, you can use a bonus action to trigger its attack. So you can activate and use your Eldritch Cannon in the same turn, but it requires both our Action and our Bonus Action to do so.
