So I had an idea for a character that would be an Armorer Artificer and a Barbarian to make a Big Daddy from Bioshock, but I'm not sure on some things. Would I still be able to gain the effects of a rage while wearing the Arcane Armor or would I have to trade back and forth by donning and doffing it over and over to utilize both? I've been looking at some of the forums, but I haven't gotten a clear answer on this and I want to be sure before I take it to my DM since he's pretty strict and not a major fan of bending the rules as written.
the Arcane Armor does not specifically state anywhere that it is "heavy" armor. it just modifes the suit of armor you already have. so as long as you are doing this without using heavy armor. it should work.
I had to double check because I was pretty sure that the Armorer's weapons attack with INT, not STR, but actually they only have the option to use INT instead. You'd still mostly be limited to the Guardian model, since the Infiltrator Model is specifically a Ranged weapon, which uses DEX... but you can still just carry a weapon as usual and just attack with that. It's definitely an odd combination but it could work. I think you'll probably only want to take 3 levels of Artificer... just enough to get the subclass and a few infusions.

I see no reason you can’t do this!
