I was going through a creative block and found myself starting to play around with Heroforge as a way of dealing with it, and I've managed to design a bunch of characters. Not even trying to make anyone specific, mostly just seeing what I can come up with and sometimes experimenting with variations on those ideas, but I've actually made some decent ones. The only thing was I didn't have much of a use for them, and I certainly couldn't afford to order them even if I had an in-person game to use them for. Best I could do is order some of them as digital downloads for Tabletop Simulator, which I admit would be cool but most online games I've found seem to favor things like Roll20 instead.
So I started posting them online thinking that maybe they'd inspire some other people who might have an interest in seeing what kinds of characters you can make. Then I realized I didn't have to just post images- I could actually share the files allowing other users to access and play with them. So I got to thinking about making them available online for free- within reason. Obviously you'll still have to pay if you want a physical model but the basic features are all free. You have my permission to use these as you see fit. If you want to try modifying them or anything feel free to go ahead.
Here is the link to my Pinterest where I've been putting the links to my builds so far:
I have tried drawing on a few different things, mostly from history. Hey, I know this was designed more with fantasy in mind but even J.R.R. Tolkien had to draw from SOMETHING. I've come up with some good models for Celtic and Pict-inspired characters, and vikings.
I'm not sure how many people in the DND community are familiar with the English Civil War but if you are, I've managed to piece together some decent Cavaliers. Unfortunately Heroforge doesn't yet have the right helmets for me to do roundheads.
Hope this is helpful to someone.
