Just getting into D&D, playing my first character. Our group has decided to make little name cards to help people remember who's who. I'm playing a Cleric of the Life Domain, but with no specified Deity (part of my character's origins, they don't know what God is showing them favor). Playing off the Variant Aasimar from the Player's Handbook as if my character is the unintended child of a full on Aasimar, and my character is the unintended consequence, left at an orphanage, of deviating from the Aasimar parent's divine mission.
My plan is to overlay or interweave what appears to be the Cleric class symbol ( upright mace with radiant flare around it) with the symbol of the Life Domain. But that requires that I know what that symbolism is, if it exists. If my character had a specific Deity I'd use their symbol, but unless or until that Deity is identified it's not applicable.
I'm also at a bit of a loss on what sort of colors would be appropriate for this. Based on other fantasy sources, it could be whites, golds, greens, etc. Not sure how I would want to work that together, though.
On a D&D wiki page over 5e spells it had some "runes" associated with each spell. Maybe do a search over it? I tried looking through my browser history to find that page but, I guess I cleared the cache sometime afterwards.
I have a life cleric in my party, and struggled with this exact thing, because we're all new I sort of shoehorned Selune as her deity and went with muted greys and dark blues!
Before that, my options were mainly pale purples, white, and gold? Not sure if that helps at all!

I'm in the same boat as you bud.
I'm in the process of painting a few miniatures and I'm trying to figure out what colors would go best.
I don't think that there is a common symbol for the life domain, but you could use the ankh...
