Hey all. Just wanted to post up some pics of my Mechanical beholder. Managed to find some bits and pieces from various 3d printable models to make up my own version of a Mech beholder.
I recently got a message from another member about how this would built. Figured i would share the same message i sent to them so that anyone else wanting to copy the build can do so.
My mechanical beholder was actually a mix of several different stls I found on Thingiverse.
I scaled down the tentacle bits and just printed lots of them and stuck them to the body. The center of the main eye is the eye from that octopus. I just set the rest of the model below the print plate when i was converting it to print.
Id printed it but didnt like it so decided to kitbash one from different kits i found on the site. Then i just used a hacksaw and cut it from the body and stuck it to the back of the skull bot head. The hatch wheel is actually a lego steering wheel that i cut off. And i used "Green stuff" to fill the gaps between the two main parts of the hull. The "Top hatch" was a part from a warhammer model kit i had laying around.
Now be aware that none of the parts that i used were scaled right with the stl files that they came with for what they were eventually used for. So i had to play around with the bits and print several trys before it got the parts right (especially getting that central eye to fit).
Enjoy

Very cool! What did you make the eyestalks out of? They look great!
Find me on Twitter: @OboeLauren
They are a scaled down and printed version of the limbs from this ball joint articulated octopus kit.

I also took the eye from the steam punk head for the center eye on the main body.

The ends of the tentacles are Dalek eyes that i got here scaled to the right size https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1761350
The main body was the head from this model called "Skull bot" https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1403225
The back of the body with the hatch was from this actual beholder tank model. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3665902
