I'm planning a lvl10 character for a future campaign with my DM, and I'm starting with 6 barb/4 fighter. Should I get heavy armor to up my AC, or should I forego the AC in favor of the increased movement speed?
You won't get the resistance to slashing/piercing/bludgeoning, extra rage damage, advantage on Strength checks/saves, or the increased movement if you wear heavy armor. Your high health and resistances will usually make up for the lackluster AC.
You can wear medium armor though and still get a decent AC with half plate or breastplate depending on if you care about disadvantage on stealth checks.
Champion up to level 4, then straight Barbarian. But you really get everything you need from the Fighter class and Champion subclass by level 3 otherwise (fighting style, second wind, action surge, improved critical). Then just fully embrace the Unarmored Defense of the Barbarian (bump Dex and Con up), add a Shield for awesome AC, maybe even Defensive Duelist feat for more melee AC and/or Shield Master feat for better durability vs casters.
Unstoppable. Of course I'm not sure what Race or Barbarian subclass you want, but that's already everything you really need. The rest is just flavor preference.

The current AC with unarmored defense is 15 fyi
