While playing Ghosts of Saltmarsh, my Ancestral Guardian barbarian took one of its teeth as a prize and had it fashioned into a necklace. My DM told me I could use some down time to get it crafted into a magical item (I have a total of 700gp), but I'm not sure what route to go.
Some roleplaying info:
He's a Stout Halfling Entertainer, a storyteller of his tribe. He's technically a half-orc, half halfling, but came out as a halfling instead of orcish. He's enamored with stories of great heroes, and bases his moral code on "Would a hero in a story do this?" He's not so great at hurting others, but he can take a hit for you and make the hits you take hurt less. This led to him being kicked out of his tribe, which valued hitting your opponent harder over defending your allies. He's on a quest to be the best to shove it in their faces.
Some mechanical info:
Level 5 Stout Halfling Ancestral Guardian Barbarian, wearing a breastplate using a shield and battleax (AC 18).
STR 14, DEX 15, CON 17, INT 9, WIS 12, CHA 0
Took shield master feat at level 4
I think it'd be cool to get some more damage resistance type coverage, but I'm not sure I'll be able to do that with 700 gp. Thanks for your time.
What about an Amulet of Agathys has 3 charges of Armour of Agathys (lvl 3???) that you can cast onto anybody. Regains all charges after a week (after a long rest would be too OP lol)
It would fit with your characters need to protect people, as you can either give them the temporary HP or if you are in melee take it for yourself so you can make use of the cold damage when hit!
How about something that acts like a cloak of protection. +1 to AC and saves. And if not that, maybe you can go for one or the other instead of both AC and saves.
