I'm rolling another Whispers Bard. I know it's not a popular class, but I like the roleplay opportunities with it. Anyway, when I rolled starting stats, I got a 7, a 10, and then a 12, 13, 13, and 15. My DM, since we're starting at level 4, did give me out of pity (since everyone else in the party rolled real high) 3 extra points to put where we wish. I put them all into charisma of course and with my half elf race I have 20 charisma at level 4. But other stats are noticeably lower after everything, with my DEX and CON highest at 14 each.
I'd like some help deciding what feat or stat increases to get at levels 8, 12, 16, and 19. I can say this bard is one who'd be all about being a people person, being sneaky and clever and infiltrating into places to get information. I want to make sure I can contribute so please help me out with plans of stuff to do as we play.
Consider taking a Hexlock dip so you can just wear Medium armor and hit people with your Charisma, but at 4, 100% take Inspiring Leader to hand out 10 (at that level, more later) THP out to everyone in the party.
Those starting stats (with the 3 point bonus) are actually better than normal stats. You’ll be fine in terms of base stats. As established above, Hexblade solves all problems everywhere, so it is a good addition to basically everything. If you don’t want to do what every boring optimizer on the planet (myself included) does with a charisma caster, I’d recommend to pick up Actor to use alongside Disguise Self for easy infiltration. Make sure to Expertise Deception, and either Stealth or Persuasion.
