in my first player campaign I want to play as a bard warlock. The story is that he and his little brother figure are street artists. And I am the bard that makes music and he's stealing stuf from people that are watching. but when they start the adventure my character feels to weak and he needs more power to defend his friend so he asks a patron to give him powers.
but the problem is that I don't know what bard and warlock subclasses suit the story?
I would recommend bard first level and warlock second level. Eldritch blast will give you two beams at 5th level with just 1 level of warlock. I would only take 1 level of warlock before you get 6th level in bard unless there is a must have invocation you NEED.
As for what the story is for the patron. Any patron could work.
Archfey: Could be very amused by a bard who steals things Celestial: Could be very interested in helping you protect your friends, this could be a very heroic flavored option Fathomless: Are you starting in a coastal city? Perhaps you almost drowned as a child. Fiend: Do you want dark powers? Fiends are always willing to cut a deal. Genie: Picture Aladdin. Genies giving powers to thieves is highly on brand. Great Old One: You really shouldn't have stared into that abyss Hexblade: Perhaps you stole the wrong dagger. Undead: Probably the hardest to write in because you need a very powerful undead as patron.
Work with your DM. Is your patron a one time interaction? Will they be a continuing character? Technically once you have made the deal you never have to interact with your patron again.
If you are a martial bard (Swords, Valor) then Fiend/Hexblade/Undead are probably your best options. If you are a support bard then Celestial or Archfey may be more interesting. The celestial healing in particular is very useful.
Glamor Bard with Archfey is a nice combo for storyline. I also like Hexblade with Sword or Valor Bard. I agree with elfdope on going Bard 1, warlock 1, than take Bard to 6th level before a 2nd warlock level.

thank you very much
how much difference does invocation with just one level

You need at least two levels to access eldritch invocations such as the all important agonizing blast.
i’m not sure if that’s what you are asking or not. Sorry.
I heard of a very powerful “master of disguise” archfey/eloquence build, but I’m not sure if that’s something you would be interested in or not.
