Making a Jock Bard

I was thinking of making a Jock Bard who is a lovable oaf and a Bard (just really encouraging). What ways can you think to improve the following?

Paladin 1, Valor Bard X 

Str 15 Dex 8 Con 16 Int 8 Wis 8 Cha 17

Human with Athlete Origin (Tough and Magic Initiate Druid)

Cantrips: Friends, Guidance, Shillelagh, True Strike, Vicious Mockery.

Weapons: Ball (Light Hammer), Bat (Club), Hockey Stick (Quarterstaff)

Starting Paladin 1 to keep spell slot progression, get plate armour and weapon mastery (sadly only two, so will have to pass on the Hockey Stick)
