Been contemplating creating a comedian bardic subclass for 2024. What would y'all suggest for class abilities for this subclass? I have ideas, but thought it would be nice to tap into the hive mind for ideas as well.
First thing that springs to mind is always having Tasha's Hideous Laughter prepared and maybe being able to cast it without a spell slot some number of times per day.
There's also Vicious Mockery, which is already a Bard staple. Something to make it more effective when used by this subclass would be nice.
"Sick Burn": You can use your razor sharp wit to sap the confidence of a foe. When a creature that you can see within 60 feet of yourself makes a damage roll or succeeds on an ability check or attack roll, you can take a Reaction to cast vicious mockery - but instead of psychic damage if the creature fails its save it subtracts the spell's damage dice from its roll, reducing the damage or potentially turning success into a failure. And just like with a normal casting of Vicious Mockery with a failed save the target has disadvantage on their next attack roll. (It's basically the College of Lore "Cutting Words" with a twist.)

If it were a Roast battle type comedian, this would work wonderfully. Vicious Mockery and Dissonant Whispers always prepared?

This could work a bit like the monk's Deflecting Attack. I will have to see if I can work this in without destroying class balance...

They gain ability to cast subclass spells with only verbal components.
