So my friends and I are starting a new campaign, and I wanted to play as an Eladrin bard who changes personality ever once and a while because of the whole season thing. The idea is that if he goes through a life-changing encounter or the actual season's change, so do the bard's personality and flaws, not including his alignment. So, in other words, he does the same thing but differently depending on his state of mind/season. What is your opinion on this idea? would he make great role-playing moments or does it seem like he would be annoying to the party if he changed every so often? If you've played one before, I would love to know how you pulled it off. Thanks!
I think it could work fine. Not multiple personalities, but rather someone who just reinvents themselves every once in awhile, which seems very in theme for a flamboyantly fey bard. Maybe something like always having to have just the right outfit for the season.
A way that I like to think about it is each season is a different lens for the character to view the world in. Its the same ideas and concepts but each season skews them in a certain way. For instance, Winter could be suspicious of everyone and not trust the potion seller. Fall, on the other hand, might just readily accept whatever is being handed to them.
Winter - It would be really easy for someone to slip something into this... how do I know they're not trying to kill me with this?
Buy a potion
Fall - This person probably only has a business because their potions work. OK, down the hatch!

Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
