Just wanted to ask for some advice from some experienced spellcasters!
I am playing a level 3 College of Lore Bard. After becoming a little more familiar with our DM’s world and plans for our storyline, I have realized we will be fighting a lot of undead! Not a problem, but I just know undead have a LOOOOT of immunities. Also there are so many spells, so I have a hard time deciding which ones to go with!
I’ll be able to grab spells from other classes too with magical secrets, which makes my spell list research way more extensive. So, before I dive in, I just wanted to ask for anyone’s advice!
What spells would you suggest for a bard dealing with a lot of undead enemies? Can be from any class!
I think the best spell a bard can pick up for dealing with undead is lesser restoration. Not exactly a stretch since it's already on the bard spell list and available much earlier than 6th level. ;)
I tend to favor picking up either a mass healing spell or an out-of-combat healing spell at 6th level for efficiency. Force, radiant, or sonic damage are all generally good damage choices. Gentle repose has the obvious application and the advantage of being a ritual.
Spirit Guardians is a great spell choice as it can help rack up damage on multiple enemies.
Spiritual weapon is a good non concentration spell that gives you some action economy. More than likely you will want to use your bardic inspiration for cutting words and so this gives you a bonus action alternative.
In general Lore Bards will appreciate
Counterspell especially if you feel like you will encounter liches or some other creatures with spellcasting. Bards are really good at counterspelling.
Aura of Vitality this is a good pick if you take one level of life cleric for they have the ability to boost healing from spells
Pass without trace great for the party if no one has it
bless although this can also come from a one level dip in cleric
guiding bolt as a low level spell provides alot of utility if you have melee fighters can get from one level dip in cleric
Revivify if you don't have a cleric
Call lightning is great but needs some space to cast not suited for indoors
fireball for some AOE
Haste for some support
Bards natural spell list has some gems for damage
Shatter does thunder damage and isn't heavily resisted
Dissonant Whispers can trigger AoO from allies and psychic isn't heavily resisted

I don't think they ever have resistance to radiant damage.

Fight fire with fire. Take animate dead. ;)
There are a couple of things you could do.
