So my bard is picking up a few magic instruments and they say have 8 charges. But can’t see anything about recharge. Does this mean once the charges are used the instruments have no further use

There's no way for anyone to say for sure unless you tell us what they are, but generally if a magic item doesn't say the charges come back, then the charges don't come back. That is not typically the case for magic musical instruments, though.
Doss lute , Fochlucan Bandore are the two I have at the moment
These items don't actually have charges in the traditional sense. They have a list of spells you can cast from them, and each spell can be cast from the item once per day.
It does seem like D&D Beyond has implemented these things with an 8-charge tracker and having each spell cost 1 charge to cast. That seems like a mistake in D&D Beyond more than anything else, as that is not at all how the item is supposed to work. You're supposed to be able to cast each spell once per day.

Yeah, if you are basing that on what you see on DDB, a lot of times there can be coding limitations that cause things to not display exactly correctly. This is usually caused by the limitations of the database and not wanting to rewrite everything for edge cases (such as the handful of items that have multiple abilities, each with their own number of charge that are independent from each other).
