So I'm planning to play a bard who's been cursed to speak in (bad) poetry, like this "I mean no offense at this time/I am cursed to speak only in rhyme". I thought it might make social interaction more interesting, but would it get annoying over time, or in combat? Since she can write, should she be mainly writing? Also, she's a dwarf sailor named Bardrynn Torunn.
I'm interested to hear what you think!
Some background/backstory: Bardynn went to the Merchant's Guild in a city far away when she was 34 and was hired to sail on a merchant ship called the Windgrace. The Windgrace made many profitable journeys, with Bardrynn acting as a negotiator and getting some good prices due to her words. Then, the Windgrace was attacked by pirates, including a magic-user. After fighting, they were all incapacitated, and Bardrynn tried to soften the magic-user's heart with some poetry. However, they didn't care, instead cursing Bardrynn to only be able to speak in poetry. The pirates carried away the cargo, and when they got back to port Bardrynn left the Windgrace (legally) because she couldn't negotiate like this. Now, she's seeking to get enough money to hire someone to break the curse or to become magically powerful enough herself. Then, she plans to try to return to the Windgrace. TL:DR - She was a sailor, a pirate cursed her to speak in poetry, now she's adventuring to attempt to break the curse
