As the title suggests, if you go to homebrew a subclass and use Eldritch Knight as a template, even without changing a single thing, it does not let you learn any spells. They simply don't show up. This is a problem, especially if you simply wish to change the spellcasting ability for eldritch knights, for example.
Please post a link to the homebrew, and a link to the character using the homebrew subclass, so the staff can take a look. (Staff can view unpublished homebrew).
Any news on this? I'm trying to create an Eldritch Knight with the druid spell list. I can add individual spells, but adding a whole spell list just doesn't work
Everything Lurky said; and you absolutely need that subclass feature called "Spellcasting" at level 3 to get the Eldritch Knight-style 3rd-caster spell slots and # of spells to select/prepare per class level. Then you'll be able to learn spells under that class.

Thank you! I copied the Eldritch Knight so I figured it was just a case of changing the spell list. For some reason it had lost "Spell Prepare Type: Half" once that was fixed it worked perfectly.

Here's a link to the homebrew, which is simply a base copy of Eldritch Knight with absolutely nothing changed: https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/746494-copy_of_eldritch-knight
Here's a character using the subclass: https://ddb.ac/characters/44101970/4VPquV
