I don't understand why when creating a new druid Circle, to make it shareable, I have to add a feature at 3rd level (as explained in your's tutorial here) when none of the official Circles has a 3rd level feature.
Also, if you look at the Druid class table, there is nothing to obtain at level 3.
It's because the base class template is based on the free version of the class from the Basic Rules. For druids that's Circle of the Land, which gets Circle Spells at level 3. So you just need to make a placeholder dummy feature, which doesn't have to actually do anything.
Yes, but the only full example is the Circle of the Land, and you can see it gets Circle Spells at level 3. These days you can set a subclass to get a feature at a certain level, but when the homebrew tools were first created, either that wasn't true, or there was something in how it tied in that made this setup necessary. And it's difficult if not impossible to undo that now, because every homebrew druid subclass that's been made has had to follow this rule.
