So I created a homebrew monster for a Homunculus Servant for an Artificer (since the PB stat still aren't fixed). I have everything looking correct for the monster given the players level and it show up correctly when I view it in my Homebrew list but when we add the monster under Extra for some reason the monsters Perception skill is showing up wrong. Any idea what is happening?
For its Perception skill, use Base Value: 4, Additional Bonus: 4
(As always be sure to hit [Save Changes] and it can take up to 20 minutes for homebrew changes to percolate to character sheets.)
OK, that worked, but why did that work? I put the base as 6 for Stealth in skills and that shows correct. Why would setting the base for Perception to 8 not work the same?
Because the Stealth is 2 + PB, like a normal skill proficiency, but the Perception is 0 + (2 x PB), which is twice-proficiency or expertise; that's what the Additional Bonus is for.
