I have a player who is playing a UA metallic draconic race. He chose to give a +1 to three ability scores, but the character sheet makes it a +4 to those abilities. Thanks for looking into it.
They're all +1 for me if I try it. I wouldn't mind betting that their character has a poorly made homebrew or they've accidentally set override scores on their ability scores.
Either way - we cannot help without a link to their character.
They are a brand new player so it's very possible something is turned on incorrectly. I looked through everything I know to check and it all looks good.
You accidentally added a space onto the end of the link (the ) but removing it I was able to look at it.
You're right it is actually +4 from the racial choices. That is odd. I wonder (and this is just a guess) if this is a similar problem to the Fighting Style bug where choosing it once sometimes adds it multiple times. The usual fix for that is to go in and un-choose the options (setting it to their default choice) and keep doing that until the choice stays on the default - and then re-choose the option you wanted.
So I would suggest giving that a try. Go to the ASI on section "1. Race" and change all the stat options to "- Choose an ability score to increase by 1 -" (obviously note down what they were first). Keep trying that until it stays at that option and then rechoose what they were. If that doesn't work - do the same thing but with the main "Choose three scores [...]" and change that to "- Choose an option -" - repeating until it sticks and then putting it back the way it's supposed to be. Given that all 3 scores are +4 - I have a feeling it is the latter case.
Again though - that's just a guess. A moderator might have a much better idea of what's going on - but it's the weekend so it could take them a while.
I used the second option but I did that first. I just reset the ability score choice and reselected for them.
If this also helps This player had originally chosen regular dragonborn. Then they found the UA draconic races and asked if they could use that instead. I said yes and went into their sheet and changed the race but left all of the options blank for them to choose. They went in after the fact and made the choices. It could be that the closing and reopening the sheet contributed to the error, but I don't know.
That makes sense. From what I recall - editing a character sheet in multiple browser tabs at the same time is the usual cause for bugs like this. Since the DNDBeyond servers seem to cache every 15-30 minutes (on a good day) - it could be that you both edited it within the same caching window - which could have caused the issue.

Hey that worked! First try too. Thanks!
That's both good and bad. Good that it fixed - bad that the Fighting Style bug has spread.
Out of interest was it the former or latter approach that worked? So I know for future reference.
