Go into your character - in the box next to HP - if you do whatever damage it would be to invoke Death Saves (say for example you have 12 HP and you do 12 and click "Damage") - the Death Saves pops up - but an interesting thing is - you can no longer mouse wheel scroll on your character (the side scroll bars work). Interesting - if you put 0 health, the Death Saves comes up and it works fine.
Something with the Damage button triggering the Death Saves causes Firefox to cease being able to scroll (without the use of the right scroll bar on the browser). This is fixed by just reloading the page.
So I did a little testing - it's because it locks the active field as the textbox for the damage value before removing it.
I did what you tried - and then clicked on the HP to bring out the pop-out window and healed my character again. Then when I used the scrollwheel - the damage box on the character sheet starts scrolling up and down in value - as it would normally work with the cursor in the box.
So basically it's not relinquishing control of the textbox before it removes it. Scrolling continues to counter up/down the textbox but we can't see it - and because it's not there - there's no way to get control back from it - except to heal to bring it back and then click on it and away again - or just refresh.
No idea if any of the words I used were the right ones - or whether it makes any sense...

I am experiencing the same issue
I could replicate this defect in Chrome.
