(This is copied from elsewhere but the question wasn’t answered there and I’m having the exact same problem) I originally marked my homebrew race as a variant, but do to some of the changes I made, it wasn't jiving with the parent stats very well so I unchecked the variant race box and deselected the race group.  The homebrew race is still attached to the parent group and it's manipulating some of the stats.  Is there anyway to remove this or do I need to dump it and start over (I hope not)

Start over with the parent race you want (or make your own new race from scratch), but keep your first homebrew race for reference while you get the new one working. Then you can Delete the old one with the bad parenting.

That’s too much hassle for me, I’m pretty lazy. I’ve been able to remove the effects of the parent race on my sub race so I doesn’t really do anything now. thanks anyways
