I edited a magic item in my homebrew creations, and it hasn't updated the changes yet. I do not know what to do. Hopefully, it wasn't an hour lost, and I never write as well the second time off of memory. Can D&D Beyond recover the item?
It can take up to 20 minutes any homebrew changes to percolate to character sheets, so it might be updated by now. Also, always be sure that you click that SAVE CHANGES button on the main edit page.

It's been 20 hours now and no update. I did click Save Changes, but I feel like this is where the issue comes from. Sometimes I get an error message when I do this, so my assumption is that it didn't save. Is there a way to retrieve the weapon? I tried to go back in history, but the page shows up with an error message.
If you had only just created the item, then there might be a missing field in Basic Information. Make sure the magic item has text in the Description field, as well as a Name, Rarity, Base Item Type, Magic Item Type (if "Item" Base Type), Base Armor (if "Armor"), Base Weapon (if "Weapon"). That should cover it.

Do you think it is safe to just start from scratch, seeing the amount of time that passed? =( BTW an unedited version of the weapon appears in my homebrew creations. =(
I suggest you Edit the existing one that's in your Homebrew Creations, otherwise it's going to stick around. Open the Edit window in a new tab for safety.
One thing you could do in the future is try using an existing item as a template, instead of starting from scratch.
I also suggest you try the Homebrew Forum if you get stuck. That's where folks who are familiar with the tools tend to hang out.
