There does not appear to be a way to add or move a custom item into a container other than your equipment.
You cant add a custom item via the add items button, and custom items seem to lack the move button. Only having the remove item button.
The ability to put custom items in containers hasn't been implemented yet, but it is planned as a later part of the Containers rollout.
