Either DNDBeyond is calculating AC for Barbarian wrong, or I'm missing something on the guidelines regarding Barbarian AC.
When a Barbarian is not wearing armor, their AC is equal to 10 + DEX modifier + CON modifier. But noticed in image, DEX +1 is being used for AC, and it's not including +2 Constitution to AC. Am I missing something?
Unarmored Defense is very specific: "While you are not wearing any armor, your Armor Class equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Constitution modifier. You can use a shield and still gain this benefit."
Maybe this is just part of the Unarmored 10 + DEX Modifier...so let's say the +2 Unarmored Defense for...oh geez, this isn't making sense. I can wiggle words around but then I'm just making it up as I go.
I didn't read anything that gives a +2 Unarmored Defense bonus - so I don't even know why that's being applied.
Then I read in Sage Advise article on DnDBeyond for clarification, and it says exactly what I read on PHB.
Unarmored Defense (Barbarian): 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Constitution modifier.
This looks correct. The +2 you're seeing, labeled as Unarmored Bonus, is your CON mod. DDB doesn't call it specifically your CON mod, because they use the same name for other types of unarmored ACs, like Monks' AC calc, which uses WIS.
I was going to say that but I can't find that information that proves Unarmored Bonus (Unarmored Defense) is Constitution Modifier: I wrote earlier, "so let's say the +2 Unarmored Defense for...oh geez, this isn't making sense. I can wiggle words around but then I'm just making it up as I go."
Do you know where they mentioned "Unarmored Bonus (Unarmored Defense) is Constitution Modifier"?
While you are not wearing any armor, your Armor Class equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Constitution modifier. You can use a shield and still gain this benefit.
The sidebar you've screencapped breaks this down:
10 Armor (none)
+2 Dexterity Bonus
+2 Constitution Bonus (from Unarmored Defense as mentioned above)
If you want to confirm for your own peace of mind that the unarmoured bonus is the CON modifier, you can actually click your CON score (aka, click the word constitution) and override your CON score to something crazy. You should immediately see the unarmoured bonus change as a result. I believe that they call it the Unarmoured Defense just so that as you're looking through your scores, you're aware of the trait it comes from and the purpose, so if you apply armour and it disappears, it's completely clear why. Otherwise you'd just be looking at your constitution modifier disappear and appear without reason until you figure out it's related to armour.
I understand that you feel a bit confused by this, but it's the Unarmoured Defense trait that allows you to add your CON modifier anyway. That's the name of the actual trait that the barbarian has. The Unarmoured Defense trait essentially allows you to also add your CON score to your AC, when with another character class such as a warlock, you wouldn't, it would just be plain 10 + DEX modifier when unarmoured. The bonus applies in this situation since your barbarian is unarmoured, but it doesn't need to include DEX modifier in the unarmoured defense section, nor reinclude the base calculation of 10 because those are already included seperately by default when unarmoured.
I really hope my explanation helps you. Have a good day.
Yeah, basically, when they come out with D&D 5.5 or 6e (in 2 years) they should re-write it to state, "Armor Class equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + Unarmored Defense Bonus (a.k.a your Constitution modifier, else if you're a Monk, your Wisdom Modifier)".
Or just call it:
Unarmored Constitution Defense Bonus For Barbarian Class Unarmored Wisdom Defense Bonus For Monk Class
I read all digital books online, all PDF"s, all Sage Advice references, and all hardback books, and desperately even took a chance with all Dragon Magazines and Dungeon Magazines ever published... . and nothing official ever written about it. Very odd.
PS I won't buy 6e, way to financially, emotionally, and studiously invested into 5e to give up Ahahahah

I can agree on that sooooooo much because I have put too much time into 5e characters (I have one of each class and their subclasses), getting used to the rules, playing it, and other stuff like that. So in my opinion 5e>6e or in other words 5TH EDITION PRIME!
Hello.
Help please.

This is now driving me cwazy.

Any clarification would be appreciated.

The +2 Unarmoured Bonus shown in the image is the +2 from Con I believe.

I can't find it.
Thanks again.

I soooooooo agree with your agreement :)
Oh, I like that term "prime" or "Primer" very cool:
