Hypnotic pattern duration is listed as 1 min but checking the handbook it is also concentration meaning the effect can end earlier if the caster loses concentration.
The duration of a concentration spell is effectively the maximum duration of the spell, if the caster never loses or drops concentration.
They could have the duration field say "up to 1 minute", but the fact that the spell is concentration implies the "up to" portion.
