Hey yall. So I am a bit stumped here as to whats happening but I have a level 5 Armorer Artificer with an INT score of 20. So at level 5 I will have 4 spells that are always prepared, and they should not count against my overall prepared spells. I have 2 Cantrips and then the artificer rules are that I should have spells prepared equal to my Artificer level plus Int modifier. So in theory I should be able to have 2 Cantrips, 10 spells, and 4 always prepared spells as far as I can tell. The problem is that DnD Beyond says I have 13 total prepared spells (2 cantrips, 7 spells, and 4 always prepared spells), and I cannot prepare any others, so I am confused as to why I don't have the 14 total spells (10 plus 4 always prepared) and two cantrips instead.
You prepare the list of artificer spells that are available for you to cast, choosing from the artificer spell list. When you do so, choose a number of artificer spells equal to your Intelligence modifier + half your artificer level, rounded down (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
Artificers are half-casters, so it's half your artificer level worth of spells + INT modifier. 7 is the correct number of spells for you to prepare (not including always-prepared.)
