As a new DM I am also brining in new players to the game.
I have sent them the link to create characters under my Campaign. I told them that I have content sharing and they should be able to create their characters.
After some investigation, it looks like the players creating their characters are restricted from my shared content during the initial character creation. They are forced to create a blank character and then go back and edit them.
This was very confusing as new players. Is this intentional?
I was having this same problem, too, today. First time trying.
Don't know if you've figured it in the months since, but I found that I had to turn content sharing off, then back on, then re-do what is and isn't allowed. I did the bulk pick and not by individual book. Then I had the player create another character in the campaign and everything worked the way it was supposed to. :)
