just got TCoE and it clearly stated that it was able to be used with the 2024 core rules but in the character builder i cannot pick clockwork soul sorcerer for my subclass. thankfully i did not mean to have my sorcerer on 2024 rules and this made me realize it was but i just want to know if anyone else is seeing this issue where the 2024 version of classes aren't showing the subclasses like they should. P.S. i already made sure all entitlements were synced and all that jazz.
Clockwork Sorcerer is a core subclass from the 2024 Players Handbook. In that situation, they don't show the 2014 version of it.
So once they make a newer version of the subclass, it becomes inaccessible to the old version. Technically they shouldn't do this, because you own the content, and they did say it's compatible, so they should present either version, especially if you didn't own the 2024 PHB, but that's how they've been running it. 2014 version, you can continue to use it. 2024 you have to use the version from the PHB.
You can only select 2014 subclasses for a 2024 class if that subclass hasn't been remade under the 2024 rules. Clockwork Soul is a 2024 PHB sorcerer subclass, and as such the 2014 version is not a valid selection for 2024 sorcerer.
All of them still work with the 2014 versions of the classes. Any not listed here currently still work with 2024 classes (until/unless reprinted in the future).
As it's nominally compatible, and you own the source, if you had wanted to use the 2024 version of the class, you could use the homebrew tools to create a new subclass, using the Tasha's version as your starting point, and just edit it to be available for the 2024 sorc.

Specifically, the following subclasses from Tasha's only work in 2024 if you have the 2024 content:
Druid: Stars
Fighter: Psi Warrior
Monk: Mercy
Paladin: Glory
Ranger: Fey Wanderer
Rogue: Soulknife
Sorcerer: Aberrant, Clockwork
Wizard: Bladesinger
All of them still work with the 2014 versions of the classes. Any not listed here currently still work with 2024 classes (until/unless reprinted in the future).
