I am the DM on a campaign, and there is one player who we will call "technically challenged"
One way or another, he has lost the ability to logon using his original account, and for whatever reasons says he cannot recover the account. He has since made a new account, which he how is using in DnDBeyond.
Since his old account is no longer usable, I'm wondering if there is a way for me to wrest control of his character from the old unused account, and then allow the character to be claimed by the new account.
I'm assuming the answer is "this cannot be done" and the procedure would be to recreate the character, and remove the old one. But I figured I should at least ask.
As far as I am aware and everything I have experienced, only the current owner of a character can un-assign in the campaign to be picked up by others. The Mods can correct if I am wrong but I believe the answer is to just recreate the character.

I think I know the answer already, but...
