Hi, I'm trying to add the spell 'Dragon's Breath' from Xanathar's to a custom feat to add it to a Warlock character, as it's not normally part of their spell lists. My DM wants me to have the spell, but I'm having difficulty actually adding it to my profile. I thought a custom feat that just adds the spell to the Warlock spell list would work, but it doesn't seem to even show up on the list to choose spells to add. Can you only use PHB spells? I don't own Xanathars but I've got it content shared to me, could this be the reason? I'm not finding much luck in locating a clear answer. Thanks in advance!

I think I have the answer but I also could be wrong about this.
In order to have the custom feat created, the user who is sharing the content would have to make it, since they own the content. When you are homebrewing things on the site I am pretty sure you can only use what you, yourself have access to (which is why you would only be able to see the PHB spells).
I'm also willing to admit, I could be wrong if someone gives you a better answer but I think I am on the right track.
That makes sense put into words. Funnily enough, that's exactly what my DM has done so my problem has been fixed, a shame I had to rely on them, but thank you for your insight regardless :)
That's correct -- you can only make homebrew out of stuff you own. Whoever owns the spell in the campaign can make a homebrew copy of the spell, and in the 'available for classes' section add 'warlock.' Then the homebrew version of the spell should be available for you to select from, since all homebrew is shared automatically inside a campaign.
